New to VeggieBoards and New Vegan

    Hello Everyone,

I just recently became a vegan, but I'm taking it slow introducing myself to the concept. I do not want to have a relapse back into meat and such. I want to do this right. My fiance is definitely a meat eater which is going to make it tough to continue but i feel with Veggie Boards and the Helpful communitee i will be just fine.

    Soy(tofu) Good or Bad?

Thanks so much for responding!....Maybe you can help me on a question...I've been doing some research on Tofu. And found that Tofu a good source of protein, and its good for you...but not a total replacement for meat. So i went out and bought some and prepared it and found that some people say that soy is bad for you. Saying it has toxic chemicals in it that are not removed when processed that can cause obesity, can cause blood to not absorb oxygen and cause other bad things to happen. Is this true or are people just making a big deal out of nothing.

To be honest i think the only way Soy could possibly be bad if you are eating way to big portions to many times a day...

Jax, there are a lot of threads on the topic here. This is a recent one.

A lot of the anti-soy stuff seems to come from the meat and dairy industries.

Like anything else, take soy in moderation, along with everything else. A varied diet is best, and tofu and other soy products can have a place in there among other beans/legumes, fruits, veggies, grains, etc
